11th Tabor - Dance and Music Camp of Dom Tańca

Becejły, 9-15th August 2011

Welcome to the 11th Tabor of Dom Tańca!

Tabor is an educational festival of traditional arts, organized yearly since 2002 in a village or a small town in the Polish countryside (click to see pictures from previous editions). The main idea behind it is to encourage learning traditional singing, dance and playing instrument right at source – directly from village masters. A festival day is filled with varied workshops and on evenings one can immediately try out the acquired skills during the dancing balls.

The 11th Tabor will be held in a charmingly situated village of Becejły, Suwalki region. It is here, at the North-Eastern edge of Poland, where the beautiful and unique tradition of Polish polyphonic singing has been preserved. As the region was inhabited for ages by people of various religions and nationalities, Tabor will host also Lithuanian musicians and an old-believers singing group.

The 11th Tabor of Dom Tańca is being realized by Stowarzyszenie “Dom Tańca” (The Dance-House Association) from Warszawa, with the financial support of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland.
