Idea
Tabor is the pioneer project in Poland. We organize it
to give to young people the unique possibility to touch still living but for the
last moments traditional folk music culture. We think that polish ethnic music
which we discovered a few years ago is a real phenomenon worth of showing it to
everybody. Radomskie region called oberkas basin is the place where the musical
tradition is still continued but for the last moments. The most famous
lowlands musicians take their origin from there and people at church
still sing sacred chants originated from the middleages.
The place
Tabor takes place in the area of XIX century ironworks
in Chlewiska, a small town lies under the Swietokrzyskie Mountains. The
neighbourhood is a good place to rest with its forests, huge lake and really
worth of seeing relics of the past like : XIII century The Odrowaz Family
fortified palace, XII century roman/gothic church and the unique in Europe
Museum of Folk Instruments in the castle in Szydlowiec nearby.
About
Warsaw Dancehouse
The House
of Dance was established in 1994 and consists of both professionals and
amateurs, who are deeply fond of Polish traditional culture. The association,
which is not a government institution, fulfils various projects connected with
record piling but also education and promotion of the musical side of the
country-culture. On the other hand The House of Dance means quite simply a place
and a perfect occasion to a common dance, sing and amusement.
The
idea of The House of Dance is to discover and learn as much as possible about
the folklore of the low lying region of Poland in its original form. This means
that we do not follow any stylization or trivialization trends which are well
known to fans of folklore music or folk as it is called these days. We learn
from the living masters, as far as possible, but at the same time we do take
account of spiritual aspects of the country-culture which is based on the
churchs calendar.
We
would like to thank to all those who helped us and gave their knowledge and
support. Our gratitude to PhD Grażyna D±browska (ethnochoreologist), Professor
Andrzej Bieńkowski (painter and ethnographer, PhD Piotr Dahlig
(ethnomusicologist) and Oskar Kolberg (1814-1890), whose opus magnum is an
endless source of inspiration.
